Ontario Power Generation has partnered with the Bruce Trail Conservancy, Earth Rangers, LEAF, Ontario Nature, Rouge Park and Trees Ontario to support important programs and events. These make it easy and fun for you and your family to get involved with our environment. Events are updated regularly.

    Join us and celebrate biodiversity
    May 4-5: Heartland Forest Nature Experience “Frog Fest”

    Take part in Heartland Forest’s “Frog Fest” and learn about the secretive lives of reptiles and amphibians. The event takes place in Niagara Falls on May 4 & 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include learning stations, guided hikes and live reptile shows.     May 11: Emerald Ash Borer Tree Tour

    Learn about the devastating impact of the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) on Markham’s urban forest. Nory Takata, City of Markham Parks Planner, will explain how the EAB is helping inform urban forestry practices.     May 22: Tree Tenders Volunteer Training

    If you’ve ever wanted to learn about trees and techniques for proper care, then this multi-day course is for you. Each session provides basic arboriculture training and includes indoor and outdoor instruction. Visit www.yourleaf.org for course dates and registration.

    June 2: Earth Rangers “Bring Back the Wild” in Bruce County

    OPG is pleased to “Bring Back the Wild” with Earth Rangers. You’ll learn about the challenges facing Canadian biodiversity and what you can do to help protect local endangered species.

    Show times take place at 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and are hosted by the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre, 33 Victoria Street North, in Southampton. Free of charge with admission to the museum. Visit www.earthrangers.com for details.

    Explore the St. Lawrence River Institute’s insect collection and learn about their biological importance.
