October 4th is the Harvest Festival in High Park
(TORONTO, September 18, 2009) – Each Fall, the High Park Harvest Festival gives Torontonians an opportunity to get outside and explore the city’s unique urban wilderness at a fun-filled, activity-packed fair that will appeal to all ages. Find out about conserving biodiversity, improving habitats for birds, protecting wetlands and fighting climate change at this event sponsored by the High Park Citizens’ Advisory Committee, Colborne Lodge, Ontario Nature and OPG Biodiversity 2009.
WHEN: Sunday, October 4, 2009 12 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
WHAT: “High Park Harvest Festival”
- Music and drama, storytelling, wagon rides, face painting, nature crafts and activities
- Climb Hawk Hill and see the fall hawk migration
- See Birds of Prey presented by Wildlife Education & Environmental Programs (WEEP), University of Guelph
- Marketplace and harvest foods
- A Children’s Garden harvest lunch will be served as long as food supplies last
WHERE: Colborne Lodge, High Park, 1873 Bloor St West, Toronto. By TTC: Bloor/Danforth subway line to High Park station and walk south through High Park (approximately 20 minutes). Or the 501 streetcar (Humber/Long Branch) to Colborne Lodge Drive and walk a short distance up the road to the Lodge.
OPG Biodiversity 2009 is a series of province-wide conservation-focused, family-friendly action and education events sponsored by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) in partnership with Ontario Nature, LEAF (Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests) and the Bruce Trail Conservancy. Its goal is to get people involved in protecting and conserving biodiversity in our urban parklands and forest ecosystems. Biodiversity 2009 builds on OPG’s commitment to conserving, sustaining and protecting nature.
