    June 2: Earth Rangers “Bring Back the Wild” in Bruce County

    OPG is pleased to “Bring Back the Wild” with Earth Rangers. You’ll learn about the challenges facing Canadian biodiversity and what you can do to help protect local endangered species.

    Show times take place at 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and are hosted by the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre, 33 Victoria Street North, in Southampton. Free of charge with admission to the museum. Visit www.earthrangers.com for details.


    June 8: Withrow Park Tree Tour

    Take a tour of Toronto’s beautiful Withrow Park. Learn about the many trees in the park and the Adopt-A-Tree program established by local volunteer group, Friends of Withrow Park. The tour runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visit www.yourleaf.org for details and registration.

    If you’ve ever wanted to learn about trees and techniques for proper care, then this multi-day course is for you. Each session provides basic arboriculture training and includes indoor and outdoor instruction. Visit www.yourleaf.org for course dates and registration.


    June 22: Learning About Insects

    Explore the St. Lawrence River Institute’s insect collection and learn about their biological importance. This program is free of charge and will take place from 12 – 4 p.m. at OPG’s St. Lawrence Power Development Visitor Centre, 2500B Second Street West, in Cornwall.     June 23: EAB Ambassador Training Workshop

    2.8 million ash trees in York Region are at risk of dying due to the Emerald Ash Borer. Learn how to protect the urban forest through treatment and replanting. This workshop takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the York Region Administrative Centre, 17250 Yonge Street, in Newmarket.

    July 3: Salvaging Urban Wood Tree Tour

    Explore the beautiful trees of the Junction and learn the species and situations that make for the best urban wood salvage operations.

    Learn to identify fish found in the Cornwall area and what role they play in the river system.     Did you know that each year Toronto’s urban forest produces millions of pounds of healthy and delicious food? Follow knowledgeable foodies through Toronto’s urban forest to discover what appetizing delights await! This event takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon and starts at Ben Nobleman Park, 1075 Eglinton Ave. West (just across from Eglinton West subway station.)
