On Sunday, October 11^th and Monday October 12^th, children, families and nature lovers alike got out into nature, hiked the trails, took wagon rides to the sugar bush, built a bird box, and worked up an appetite at this hands-on conservation event sponsored by Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority, Ontario Nature and OPG Biodiversity 2009.

Harvest Festival in High Park, Toronto ON

Cawthra Mulock Nature Reserve Conservation Fair, Newmarket ON

Tommy Thompson Park Butterfly Migration Festival, Toronto ON

Dragonfly Festival, Orillia ON

On August 29, 2009 the dragonflies and damselflies were the stars of the Dragonfly Festival in Orillia, a hands-on, interactive family conservation event sponsored by Ontario Nature, Ontario Power Generation and “Kids for Turtles” Environmental Education.

Nature Discovery Family Day, London ON

On August 23, 2009 kids and their families got outside, had fun and learned about nature at Springbank Park at “Nature Discovery Family Day”, a hands-on, interactive family conservation event sponsored by Ontario Nature, Ontario Power Generation, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority and the City of London.

Invasive Species Removal at Rouge Park, Toronto ON

On May 24, 2009 OPG and Ontario Nature celebrated Biodiversity Day at Rouge Park. Visitors did some good for nature by clearing harmful invasive plants during a nature walk guided by Rouge Park stewardship staff. Educational displays and fun activities taught them more about the types of invasive plants in Ontario’s diverse ecosystem and what they can do to help get rid of them.

Tommy Thompson Park Spring Bird Festival, Toronto ON

On May 23, 2009, OPG and Ontario Nature partnered with the Toronto Region Conservation Authority to celebrate International Biodiversity Day at Tommy Thompson Park. Over 2,000 visitors came out to enjoy a day for the birds. They got up close and personal with our feathered friends during an early morning bird hike and live bird branding demonstrations. They also helped build bird boxes and heard from the bird experts, including renowned ecologist Dr. Bridget Stutchbury.
